The T-Ball division is non-competitive and developmental, designed to teach each player the fundamentals needed to play the game of baseball. An emphasis on FUN is a priority at this level. Scores will NOT be kept at this level. A score book can be used to track the batting order of each team. Players WILL be rotated at defensive positions, so all players share the infield and outfield evenly.
BASE COACHES
Base coaches will consist of two adults (completed background checks required).
FIELDING
- 10 players may play on the field (4 outfielders)
- Players should be in proper positions.
- The player playing the pitcher's position must be even on the pitching rubber, with one foot on the grass and one foot on the dirt of the mound.
- The infield rule is NOT in effect.
- No catcher will be used. A coach will stand to the side and behind the batter to retrieve baseballs.
BATTING
- All players will be inserted into a continuous batting lineup. Any player arriving after the start of the game will be placed at the end of the lineup. A team is not penalized if a player has to leave early.
- Each team will bat through their entire roster each inning.
- The ball is placed on the batting tee and players swing until they get a hit.
- There will be no batter allowed “on deck.” All players must remain in the dugout until it is their turn to hit.
NOTE: A coach can elect to start with pitching to the batter based on skill level or player choice. In that situation, each player can receive a total of 4 pitches from their coach to put the ball in play. If they foul pitch 4 they can get 1 more pitch for a max of 5 total. After max pitches the player must hit using the batting tee.
BASERUNNING
Each player goes base to base on each ball put in play. There will be no extra bases taken. (Everything is a single). The last batter in the lineup will get to clear the bases with a homerun.
DEFENSE
- All players should be in the field for defense. A player in the “pitcher spot” has to remain behind the coach pitching the ball.
- All fielded balls should be thrown to 1st base. (If a ball is hit past all fielders, please have the player throw to the coach to speed up play.)
SPORTSMANSHIP
- Parents and coaches will complete and sign a Code of Conduct agreement with the league.
- Sportsmanship is the name of the game!!
- Coaches, please remember the game is to teach the kids, NOT your win/loss record!!
SAFETY
- All players will stay in dugout unless playing in the field or hitting at the plate. No player is allowed in a “on deck” circle.
- No player shall swing a bat other than at the plate.
- No coach or player shall be in the field of play with any type of hard or soft cast.
- USA Marked Bats Only (USA T-Ball Bats or USA Bats)
